Polyethylene foam, also referred to as PE foam, is a type of foam that is very rigid and made primarily through an extrusion process or moulding foaming, is produced through the polymerization of ethylene. Polyethylene foam is made up of huge chains of ethylene that stick together through weak forces, meaning the polyethylene foam material can be broken apart by human hands. Polyethylene foam has different densities and the material properties can vary as created by using different catalysts during the polymerization process.
Polyethylene foam is a strong, resilient, closed-cell or open-cell type of foam. Polyethylene foam, has the capability of being reheated in order to change its shape. Polyethylene foam is lightweight, flexible, cost-effective, and resilient to mildew, mold, rot, bacteria, and breakage.
Toys – Polyethylene foam is very soft and safe for toys, such as building blocks, key chain, door-stopper.
Packaging – Polyethylene foam is a very resilient foam used extensively in packaging. Available in a number of different densities, sizes, colors and sheets to meet the needs of your application. Applications include material handling, packaging, or electronic protection.
Flotation – Closed cell foam floats well because of the structure of the foam itself. The cells of the foam are closed meaning they are not inter-locking as in open cell foam structure. Because the foam cells are closed, the foam has good buoyancy in that the foam itself cannot become saturated with liquids causing it to sink. Uses for polyethylene in floatation applications include life jackets and aqua dumbbell and kickboard and so on.. The less dense the material, the more buoyancy it provides. Closed cell foam is also used in water craft in much the same manner that it is used in the aerospace industry by placing it between the inner and outer hulls of boats ranging in size from small personal craft such as kayaks, to craft as large as speed boats and military attack craft.
Sports Equipment – Polyethylene's excellent shock absorbing abilities make this foam a good choice as a component in athletic protective equipment. Taekwondo mat, judo mat and exercise mat and baby play mat.
Appliances – Closed cell foam insulation is used in HVAC products as thermal insulation. Closed cell foam insulation offers many benefits over fibrous insulation materials such as fiberglass. Because the cells of Polyethylene are closed and the external surface is durable, the foam resists dirt and moisture accumulation. This has the effect of reducing potential fungal or biological pathogen growth. The surface of closed cell foam is also puncture resistant when compared to other fibrous insulation materials. In the event the surface of the foam is punctured or torn, the properties of polyethylene closed cell foam remain in tact providing an insulating material that remains resistant to moisture accumulation.
We manfacture EVA and PE foam with the same mould, the block(with skin on six sides) size is 100cm*200cm*10cm. We can also do other size: 150cm*250cm*10cm.
